This policy explains what personal data our games and this website collect, why, how long it is kept, and what you can do about it. TheroGames is the name under which Alexandru Pop, an individual based in Romania, publishes games and runs this website. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Alexandru Pop.

Who is responsible

Alexandru Pop, trading as TheroGames, Romania, is the controller of your personal data. You can reach us at [email protected].

What our games collect

Our games have no accounts of their own and we run no game servers. Your progress is saved on your phone. The data below goes to the services the games are built on:

  • Firebase Analytics (Google): how you play: levels started and finished, in-game currency earned and spent, purchases and ads watched, plus the app version, device model, operating system, approximate country and an app instance ID. We use it to understand how the games are played and to improve them. Where the consent form appears, it only runs if you agree. Used by Shapper and Skyhop.
  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google): crash reports: what went wrong, the device model, operating system and app version, and an installation ID. We use them to find and fix bugs. Used by Shapper and Skyhop.
  • Firebase Remote Config (Google): downloads game settings, such as difficulty and rewards, using an installation ID, so we can tune the game without an update. Used by Shapper and Skyhop.
  • Google AdMob and the Google consent form: shows ads and, where the law requires it, asks for your consent first. It uses your device's advertising ID, IP address, device information and how you interact with ads. Used by Shapper and Skyhop.
  • Google Play Billing: handles purchases. We receive a confirmation of what you bought, never your payment details. Used by Shapper and Skyhop.
  • Google Play Games: signs you in with your Play Games profile for leaderboards and achievements, and can store cloud saves in your Play Games account. Used by Shapper and Skyhop.

Game by game

Shapper (Google Play: com.down.shapper). Shows banner, full-screen and rewarded ads. Uses Play Games for leaderboards and achievements. Services: Firebase Analytics (Google), Firebase Crashlytics (Google), Firebase Remote Config (Google), Google AdMob and the Google consent form, Google Play Billing, Google Play Games.

Skyhop (Google Play: com.therogames.skyhop). Shows only rewarded ads, which you choose to watch. Uses Play Games for leaderboards, achievements and cloud saves of your progress. Reminder notifications are scheduled on your phone and send nothing to us. Services: Firebase Analytics (Google), Firebase Crashlytics (Google), Firebase Remote Config (Google), Google AdMob and the Google consent form, Google Play Billing, Google Play Games.

Consent and your choices

If you are in the EEA, the UK or another place where the law requires it, a consent form appears the first time you open one of our games. Analytics and personalised ads only run if you agree to them there, and you can change your choice at any time with the Privacy options button in the game's Settings. Elsewhere, analytics and personalised ads are on by default.

Ads in our games come from Google AdMob. Even ads that are not personalised use some data, such as your IP address, to prevent fraud and limit how often you see the same ad.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings, usually under Settings › Privacy › Ads. Shapper's No Ads purchase removes its banner and full-screen ads, and Skyhop's Skip Ads purchase gives video rewards without watching the ads.

Why we use your data

  • To provide what you asked for: purchases, leaderboards, achievements and cloud saves (performance of a contract).
  • With your consent: gameplay analytics, personalised ads and ad measurement, where the law requires consent. You can withdraw it at any time in the game.
  • Our legitimate interests: crash reports to find and fix bugs, keeping our services secure, and answering your messages. You can object to this at any time by contacting us.

This website

If you write to us through the contact form, we store your name, email address and message, the phone number and website if you give them, and your IP address and browser type to block spam. Messages are kept in our database, hosted in France, and may also be forwarded to our email inbox. We keep a message until we have dealt with it, and delete it sooner if you ask.

Like most websites, our web server keeps short-lived logs of requests (IP address, page, browser and time) for security. They are deleted after about two weeks.

This website uses no analytics, no ads and no tracking cookies, and it loads no fonts or scripts from other companies. The only cookie is set when the site owner signs in to the admin area.

How long data is kept

  • Analytics: gameplay events for 2 months and user-level data for up to 14 months, after which Google deletes them.
  • Crash reports: about 90 days.
  • Ads, purchases and Play Games: kept by Google under Google's own retention rules.
  • Cloud saves: in your Play Games account until you delete them.
  • Contact messages: until your message has been dealt with, and no longer than you want.

Who receives your data

Google processes the data described above, either for us or as an independent controller under its own privacy policy. We do not share your data with anyone else, except where the law requires it.

  • Google Privacy Policy
  • Firebase privacy and security
  • How Google uses data from apps that use its services

Transfers outside the EU

Google may process data in the United States and other countries outside the EU. These transfers rely on the European Commission's adequacy decision for companies certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, or on the Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Write to [email protected] and we will reply within one month. Most game data is held by Google, so tell us which game you played and we will ask them to act on your request.

You can also do much of this yourself:

  • Uninstall a game: to delete its saved progress and reset its analytics ID on that phone.
  • Advertising ID: reset or delete it in your phone's settings.
  • Play Games and cloud saves: manage or delete them in the Google Play Games app or your Google Account.
  • Notifications: turn off Skyhop's reminders in your phone's settings.

If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Romanian data protection authority, ANSPDCP (dataprotection.ro), or to the authority in the country where you live.

Children

If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when our games or this website change how they use data, and change the date at the top when we do.
